The Alberta College and Association of Chiropractors represents the chiropractic profession in Alberta. We are committed to protecting the public and ensuring accountability.
We represent the interests of the public within Alberta's legislative framework and we are committed to governing in a manner that respects the privilege of self-regulation.
The ACAC has two separate roles: a regulatory college and a professional association.
The Regulatory College
The ACAC's regulatory authority is derived from provincial legislation called the Health Professions Act (HPA). We protect the public and patients in accordance with this legislation by:
- Registering and licensing Alberta chiropractors to ensure only qualified and competent chiropractors are registered to practice in Alberta
- Establishing, monitoring and enforcing Standards of Practice to ensure delivery of safe, effective and ethical chiropractic care
- Investigating and resolving complaints, and where necessary, disciplining members
- Ensuring registered chiropractors maintain their knowledge and clinical skills through a mandatory continuing competency program
