The Preceptorship program provides an opportunity for:
- chiropractic students to gain patient experience in a clinical setting and develop a clear understanding of the ACAC's regulatory and association requirements for Alberta chiropractors
- ACAC members to pass on experience, keep up-to-date with what is being taught at educational institutions and establish relationships with chiropractic students
- the ACAC to establish relationships with chiropractic educational institutions
Qualifications and Limitations
- Students must be within six months of graduation from an accredited chiropractic college
- Preceptorship students may only perform duties/activities under the direct supervision of an approved and registered Alberta chiropractor.
Application process
There are three components to the Preceptorship application:
1. Application form/contract between the ACAC and the student, must include an application fee of $150.
2. Application/contract between the ACAC and the member in whose clinic the student will serve the preceptor
3. Application/contract between the ACAC and the student's college of attendance (must also include a certificate of liability insurance for the student)
All three documents must be completed, signed and sent to the ACAC before all documentation is the forwarded to the ACAC Registrar for approval.
The ACAC will inform the ACAC member, chiropractic college and student of the application outcome.
