The ACAC Complaints Director, Hearing Tribunal, Complaints Review Committee and complaint investigators are responsible for complaints and discipline. The Tribunal and investigators are selected by defined criteria, and they are trained and evaluated by the ACAC on an ongoing basis. They are keenly aware of legislative responsibilities and strive to:
- Collect facts and information from all parties involved in an official complaint
- Provide a fair and unbiased outcome for complaints
- Ratify agreements
- Protect public interest
The ACAC is responsible for investigating and resolving complaints about chiropractors. Upon receipt of a complaint, the ACAC will:
- contact the chiropractor in question and provide him/her with a copy of the complaint
- contact the complainant and/or other individuals who may have information relevant to the complaint.
The chiropractor in question will be required to provide the Registrar's office with all relevant information and provide an explanation to the complaint. Once all information has been gathered, it will be reviewed by the Complaints Director. The Complaints Director will determine if the complaint will proceed to the Hearing Tribunal for further action.
