Chiropractic Association of Alberta Membership

The Chiropractic Association of Alberta is a member-based association dedicated to promoting and advocating to patients, government, healthcare professionals and insurers on the imperative healthcare role of chiropractors. We have a duty to diagnose and a commitment to care. The Association is fearless in the pursuit of chiropractic in Alberta and the integration into primary care.

The College of Chiropractors of Alberta’s mandate is to serve and protect the public through registration, competency and professional conduct oversight of Alberta chiropractors to ensure safe, competent and ethical care is provided to Albertans. In the interest of the public, the government defines the college’s mandate through legislation and other directives and the college is accountable both to the government and the public.

It is not a requirement of your practice permit issued by the College of Chiropractors of Alberta (CCOA) to belong to the Chiropractic Association of Alberta (CAA). However, membership in the CAA is required to access other professional benefits provincially and nationally.

The Chiropractic Association of Alberta enables access to world-class care for spinal, muscle, nerve and joint conditions while expanding scope and utilization and optimizing practice life for members and adding value for patients. It also keeps you connected to a dedicated network of over 1200 chiropractors in Alberta

To be a member of the Canadian Chiropractic Protective Association (CCPA), you must be a member of both the Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA) and the Chiropractic Association of Alberta (CAA). The CCPA is the only liability protection that focuses exclusively on chiropractors. CCPA ensures that you have the opportunity to talk to a chiropractor trained in risk mitigation, who understands what you do and can best assist you with your inquiry or risk situation. CCPA also provides continuing education in the form of the yearly Risk Management Project, as well as a quarterly podcast and electronic bulletins, all to help you manage your practice and reduce your risk.

CCPA was established by the partnership in a time of crisis and has been committed to protecting chiropractors since 1986. CCPA provides sleep at night protection, protecting over 8500 chiropractors across Canada so you can focus on providing top quality care to your patients. 

To belong to the national Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA), you are also required to belong to the provincial association. The CCA is the profession’s representative with third-party insurance providers and advocates for pan-Canadian health privileges, such as chiropractors having the authority to authorize handicap parking placards for patients with disabilities.

We are proud to support the advancement of chiropractic research and development in Alberta and across Canada. A portion of your membership fees is directed to key organizations committed to strengthening evidence-based chiropractic research, ensuring your membership has an even greater impact.
Your annual allocation includes:

• Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) – $25
  • Supports academic excellence, research initiatives, and the training of future chiropractors through one of Canada’s leading chiropractic institutions.
• Canadian Chiropractic Research Foundation (CCRF) – $25
  • Contributes to national chiropractic research grants and projects that advance scientifically validated research to improve patient health, public policy and clinical practice outcomes.
• Alberta‑Based Chiropractic Research – $20
  • Directly supports local research initiatives within Alberta, helping generate province-specific data, improve care delivery, and elevate chiropractic’s role in the broader health system.

The remainder of your membership fees directly funds the work of the Association, advocacy on behalf of the profession, public engagement initiatives, member support services, practice‑building resources, and collaborations that elevate the role of chiropractic in Alberta’s health system.

Our membership cycle runs July 1 to June 30 each year.

Renewals open on May 15, giving members several weeks to review and update their information before the new cycle begins. To ensure uninterrupted access to all member benefits, we encourage members to renew before June 30.

Note:

• Memberships that are purchased on or after March 1st are not required to renew for the upcoming membership cycle.

The New Graduate rate is available to chiropractors who complete their Doctor of Chiropractic program in June or later of the current year.

To ensure every new graduate receives a full 12‑month membership at this rate, eligibility works as follows:

• If you purchased your membership before July 1, you would renew as a Regular Member for the next cycle.
• If you purchased your membership on or after July 1, you are eligible to renew as a New Graduate Member for the following year.

We do not offer part‑time membership rates at the moment but are actively reviewing our fee structure and welcome member feedback for future enhancements.
