Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of the Chiropractic Association of Alberta is proud to be representing the chiropractic members of Alberta!

The Board will focus on promoting and advocating for its members and the chiropractic profession and has a wide representation from across the province.

The Board consists of:

Dr. Kelly Fleck

Chair - Dr. Kelly Fleck

Dr. Fleck practices at the Baseline Chiropractic and Wellness Centre in Sherwood Park, AB. Dr. Fleck’s journey began at a very young age when he experienced an injury as a child. His chiropractic experience greatly influenced his life, with the warmth and passion that his chiropractor showed. This experience has shaped Dr. Fleck into the individual he is today, treating his patients with the same warmth, care, and compassion. Dr. Fleck is active in promoting the benefits of chiropractic care to his community and has spent a large part of his of his professional career advocating for the profession. He served for seven years as board member and Vice President with the Alberta College and Association of Chiropractors. He is dedicated to increasing the footprint of chiropractic care and wellness throughout the province of Alberta.

When Dr. Fleck is not at the office, you can find him coaching his kids at the local rinks and spending time with his family. As a family we love to traveling and enjoying our summers together at the lake.

Dr. Jacqueline Boyd

Vice Chair- Dr. Jacqueline Boyd

Dr. Boyd was introduced to chiropractic through her personal experience with back pain, however, it was the changes in her overall health that compelled her to join the profession. After graduating from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, she moved to Alberta where she subsequently started Access Chiropractic and Wellness.

Dr. Boyd has been involved in her community as founding president (now Vice-president) of her commercial condo board, a mentor through the Smart Start business program, Airdrie Chamber of Commerce, volunteer in various organizations, and taking every opportunity to advocate for the chiropractic profession.

When not working, Dr. Boyd enjoys anything in the great outdoors from hiking, skiing and camping with her family. She will also be testing for her Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do in 2022.

Dr. Natalie Carrington

Past Chair - Dr. Natalie Carrington

Dr. Carrington has been a chiropractor for over 29 years at the Diamond Valley Chiropractic and Health Centre in Black Diamond, AB. She is passionate about the health of her patients and the importance of the chiropractic profession. She is an active member of the chiropractic profession, as the past Chair of the Chiropractic Associations of Alberta, past Alberta representative for the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, and she is a past board member of the Health Professions Advisory Board and Alberta College and Association of Chiropractors.

When Dr. Carrington is not hard at work improving patients lives, you can find her teaching yoga at Centered on Centre Yoga Studio in Black Diamond, AB or spending time with her husband Greg and family travelling and adventuring.

J_Adams_Hessel

Director- Dr. Jennifer Adams-Hessel

Dr. Adams-Hessel has been practicing as a chiropractor for 28 years. She enjoys sharing her time between a rural practice in the town of Grimshaw and in a multi-discipline city practice in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Dr. Adams-Hessel has been active in her communities over the years volunteering as a basketball coach and in a governance role as a school board trustee. Her experience in governance and her years of practice have helped to prepare her for her involvement on the Chiropractic Association of Alberta Board. 

When Dr. Adams-Hessel is not in the office you can find her downhill or cross country skiing, hiking, and mountain biking on the Alberta trails with her husband and son.

Dr. Jamila Abdulla

Director - Dr. Jamila Abdulla

Dr. Abdulla’s passion for chiropractic started after her first chiropractic adjustment, this amazing experience guided her towards chiropractic school and starting the Chiropractic Health Centre in Calgary. Dr. Abdulla has been a volunteer within the chiropractic community, actively contributing to the CCEB in multiple roles and the ACAC both as an investigator and then as a board member. She has successfully completed the chartered director program in Nov. 2020 which provides a strong foundation of best practices for board members. Additionally, she is Audit Committee Certified(A.C.C.).

Outside of chiropractic, Dr. Abdulla enjoys x-country skiing, hiking, biking (both road and mountain), and of course travelling.

Dr. Elaine Screaton

Director - Dr. Elaine Screaton

Dr. Screaton is a passionate chiropractor who wants to contribute to the community she grew up in. As part of the Synergea Family Health Centre in northwest Calgary, she believes that a holistic and integrative approach to movement is key. Dr. Screaton utilizes manual adjustments, mobilizations, and soft tissue therapy to improve her patient’s wellness journey.

When Dr. Screaton is not at the office, you can find her weight lifting, playing volleyball, or golfing with her husband. She also loves spending time with family and doing agility classes with her dog, a 7lb Chihuahua.

Director - Dr. Peter Shipka

Director - Dr. Peter Shipka

Dr. Peter Shipka is a graduate from the University of Alberta and Los Angeles College of Chiropractic. For the past 27 years, Dr. Shipka has been in full time practice in St. Albert, Alberta and currently serves in various roles with representing the chiropractic profession including: current Alberta Representative to CMCC Board of Governors and chiropractic representative to the Alberta Government’s Diagnostic Treatment Protocols working group. His past service positions with the ACAC included: council member, administrator of radiology, clinical advisor, WCB negotiation team member and investigator. Dr. Shipka continued his education in medical acupuncture graduating from University of Alberta and CMCC. He has been active in research since 1987 and currently serves as a member of the CCFR research committee and ACC-RAC conference selection committee. During his down time, Dr. Shipka enjoys spending time with his family and loves to ski, hike, and camp.

Dr. Jacqueline Boyd

Director- Dr. Mitchell Toffan

Dr. Toffan began his athletic background early starting with hockey. Playing the sport competitively until switching into the sport of Olympic weightlifting. These sports led to multiple injuries leading him into the profession of chiropractic. Dr. Toffan provides soft-tissue manipulation, joint manipulation, cupping, kinesiotaping, functional rehabilitation services, and acupuncture. Whether a marathoner, rock climber, snowboarder, or a weekend warrior, he strives to treat the patient as a whole and not hone in on symptoms. Dr. Toffan goal is to get you to move better, move more, and educate you for longevity.

Dr. Toffan has a Bachelor of Science in Exercise physiology from the University of Calgary. He graduated from Palmer West Chiropractic College in San Jose, California in 2021. During his chiropractic program he graduated from McMaster for his acupuncture accreditation. He is certified by Motion Palpation Institute and is a DNS Certified Exercise Trainer.

Dr. Jacqueline Boyd

Director- Dr. Ron Steingart

Dr. Steingart is celebrating his 25th year in practice this year. Right after graduation he was offered a position in Lima, Peru where he lived, worked and met the love of his life. After 3 years there the newly married couple decided to move back to Calgary and set up a practice. Since 2001 Dr. Steingart has been seeing patients in S.E. Calgary, his dedication treating those with sports and dance injuries has positioned him as the “go to’’ practitioner in the area.

When he is not in the office you will find him working on his short game, riding his road bike, travelling with his wife and cheering on Liverpool FC,

Dr. Anna Winner

Director - Dr. Anna Winner

Dr. Winner is a chiropractor at LiveWell Family Chiropractic in Edmonton, AB. Dr. Winner was first exposed to the chiropractic profession as a summer student during her post-secondary education. Instantly Dr. Winner knew this was where she belonged. Dr. Winner has a passion for pediatric and family care and is an advocate for inspiring families to raise children in a more holistic way

When Dr. Winner is not at the clinic caring for her patients she is a self proclaimed foodie, enjoys travelling and exploring cultures and cuisines, and spending time with family and friends.
