2025/26 Membership Renewal Explained: Everything You Need to Know

The Chiropractic Associate of Alberta provides two main types of paid memberships, each designed to cater to specific needs:

• Regular Membership: Available to chiropractors currently practicing in Alberta.
• New Graduate Membership: Open to individuals who graduated from a Doctor of Chiropractic program in June 2025 or later.
  • If your membership was purchased before July 1st, you must renew as a Regular Member.
  • If your membership was purchased on or after July 1st, you qualify to renew as a New Graduate Member.

Any new members who joined within the last year, or new graduate members would not be on autorenewal by default. When renewals start on May 15, 2025, you will receive an email with instructions on how to renew your membership with the option to be placed on auto-renewal. 

• If you joined as a new member on or after March 1st, your membership will automatically extend to the next membership year, meaning you won’t need to renew for the upcoming period.
• However, if you joined before March 1st, renewal is required to maintain your membership for the next cycle.

Switching your membership to auto-renewal is easy and convenient. Once renewals start on May 15, 2025, simply come back to this page and purchase the “Auto-Renew Regular Membership” option above. Moving forward, your membership and benefits will continue uninterrupted, automatically renewing on your purchase date anniversary with the saved payment method of your choice.

No, it is not mandatory to join the CAA to maintain your practice permit issued by the CCOA. However, membership in the CAA is necessary to access additional professional benefits at both provincial and national levels. 

Membership with the College of Chiropractors of Alberta is mandatory for practicing chiropractors in Alberta. The Health Professions Act requires that all regulated members renew their practice permit annually.

No, membership in the CCPA requires you to be a member of both the Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA) and the Chiropractic Association of Alberta (CAA). 

The CCPA is the only liability protection program exclusively focused on chiropractors. It provides access to chiropractors trained in risk mitigation who understand the profession and can assist with inquiries or risk situations. CCPA also offers continuing education through the annual Risk Management Project, quarterly podcasts, and electronic bulletins, helping members reduce practice risks. Established in 1986, CCPA protects over 8,500 chiropractors across Canada. 

Membership in the national CCA requires concurrent membership in the provincial association (CAA). The CCA represents the profession with third-party insurance providers and advocates for pan-Canadian health privileges, such as enabling chiropractors to authorize handicap parking placards for patients with disabilities.
